Background Since 1982 many student-centred physical education teaching approaches have been proposed as viable alternatives to the traditional teacher-centred methodology. However, research indicates that their uptake by practitioners has limited. This is concerning, particularly given prominence of alternative within PETE courses worldwide. For students, implementing an approach on school professional experience proven be very challenging, due a lack knowledge and understanding pedagogical principles its underpinning learning theory. To address this deficiency researchers suggested programmes provide students with authentic supportive bridges gap between university peer experiences unpredictable experience.
